During my brief research into how on earth Christian fundamentalism got hooked up with New Age conspiracy (I used to think they were mortal enemies, but it turns out I was already a decade or two, three behind the fact), I have passed through alternative history, alien master races, UFOs, a new World Order, Theosophy, Anthroposophy and the entire rest of the Circus of Quackery (and bad art), omniscient gurus, channelers, etc., etc., etc. There appears to be a vast ocean of hidden and suppressed knowledge which the government doesn't want to know me about, etc., etc., etc.Oddly enough, one name that is markedly absent from 'the literature' about conspiracies is Creationism. By my knowledge, this marvelous teaching holds that God created the Universe about 6,000 years ago, but this fact is actively being suppressed by a powerful adversary who has managed to infiltrate the Government, Universities, the entire rest of the education system, the Media, etc., etc., etc. Such a powerful enemy who can take on God Himself can of course only go by one name: the Devil!
How can that one be missing from an entire pile of reports about conspiracies, I wonder. And how can this marriage between fundamentalist Christians and conspiracy-minded New Agers come as a surprise to anyone?
Creationism isn't even the biggest conspiracy out there. That honor should probably go to the great Gnostic conspiracy, according to which the Creator of the Universe, the Old Testament God, is basically the Devil himself (and consequently, Hell is where we are right now). Kind of makes 'theories' about shape-shifting lizards look somewhat dull and basic, doesn't it?
