Description Story
-----

I was standing on the balcony with my camera when this mighty beast appeared. A goshawk from the forest, on the prowl for pigeons and such. Curiously, when you venture into the forest, chances of ever getting to see one are near zero, and I can watch them fly right past my window from the couch at times. I have only seen one in the forest twice, and one was just a dark flash in the corner of my eye. They fly insanely fast among the trees.

The reason why they come out of the forest is apparently a shortage of wood pigeons due to the shitty ecology. Overzealous nature conservationists may have a hand in that: they have a habit of removing all traces of human activity from what they feel is, or should be, 'wild nature', destroying all diversity in the landscape in the process. What is left is one big monoculture of homogeneous forest without any kind of transitions whatsoever. And life happens to like transitions more than anything else. For the same reason, most likely, squirrels and rabbits have practically disappeared, which also may have served as a food source for the hawks.

The original is present as Ladyhawk somewhere in the bowels of that enormous pile of digital rubble known as my gallery. I figured it had to be a lady because it was so big, and with goshawks the females are bigger than the males. The beast was flying right overhead when I took this shot. It was a lucky shot, and a lucky edit as well. I don't think I could re-create this pearly effect in a million years. This particular piece of knowledge has vanished forever, I'm afraid.
