I only recently learned about the expression 'red pilled', even though I did see The Matrix at the cinema in a previous lifetime. Wasn't overly impressed with it to be honest, not sure why the thing gets hyped so much even today. Seven was better and Desperados a lot more fun (saw that one during Christmas when we didn't feel like lining up for Bond - best movie decision ever!).
