Religion fascinates me very much. People being prepared to take the boldest of claims at face value, without any proof or underlying reasoning. And then there is the idea that beliefs shape societies, that whatever people believe in reflects itself in their actions and in the way they organize themselves. With the more mystically-inclined invariably ending up in a dictatorship. Is that so? It has been a view in western science since at least the 19th century, but has it been properly researched?
