A flock of Yellow-breasted bunting (Emberiza aureola) flying in the fields, with two perching on wooden poles. Far from them are two environmental volunteers removing the bird nets that link between poles.The Yellow-breasted bunting is a migratory songbird native to Eurasia, they breed in Northern Europe and Asia and they spend their time in Southeast Asia in winter. They are heavily hunted in China for domestic consumption, and to be sold as pets, and all of those are illegal in China. High-rate poaching and in the addition of habitat loss due to agriculture had put this species on rapid decline, IUCN had listed this species from "Least concern” in the 2000s as "Critically endangered" in the 2010s. This species was never listed on the endangered protected species list until 2021, which was upgrade to class I protected species, having the protection level same as the giant panda.
