Vertical composition, tones nearly monochromatic,giving an impression similar to sepia photos. The main represented object a bust executed in an manner that may be highly abstracted portraiture or imagined. This combination gives the watercolor an overall impression similar to the works of Redon. The spiderwebs present remind one a bit of oil painting cracks, or warped film in photographs. As this work is watercolor,and said webs are present throughout the image, the effect is likely intentional and adds a kind of warped feel to the work, as well as a sense of distance caused by time.This offsets the overall impression of immediacy given by the imaginatively distorted head and frontally "cut off" darkened bottle object.
This is a genuinely imaginative piece of artwork. It is one of the first I've favorited, and the one I've come back to look at a second time. Would like to see more like it.
