08.2014, digital painting / digital speed paintingSo Yeah, Thor. Cause I am Thor'd totally - if You haven't known - now You know it. While painting this I felt like he was speaking to me with Loki's words "After all this time, You come to visit me..." and Jane's words "Where were You?".... Ugh... Ya, know... I was painting Bucky Barnes? XD You all guys have to know that I've drawn many many Thor's sketches some time ago. He and Bucky remind me very much my two OCs so I feel very connected with them. Ok... so here I am. And this is my first digital Thor. Hope You'll like him. I'm gonna draw some more Thor artworks. I'm thinking of painting him with his bro Loki as well
Inspiration and references were cool artworks / photomanipulations of thortheavengergod Thank You very much for the inspiration!

Wow, this painting is awesome!! I love the texture of his hair, so realistic! Very, very good job on this portrait! Can't wait to see more!
I have no doubt you will be doing numerous more paintings of this guy.

Thank You very much I'm glad You like it ^^ And I'm glad You like the hair cause I am not fully satisfied with them (I guess I need to paint more blond guys so... hahaha Thoooor XD lol) - but if someone else is saying that they look very realistic it means only that I am perfectionist XD So they are better than I think (just like we were talking about how we looks haha).

Haha, I'm a perfectionist too. I will finish a portrait, & still yet, take the longest time just to put on the "finishing touches". & still then, I don't think it looks quite perfect. Lol
Yep, you got his hair just right! Well actually, the whole painting looks great!

I'm glad You like it I - myself - like the face the most

Hahaha XD Chris face is always to like XDDD hahahaha XD But to be honest I always am crazy while drawing handsome guy XDDDD I always want him to be as perfect as the model. Even in imperfections like scars, wrinkles You know. And I am always not satisfied with effects XD This time of course it was the same way. He is not totally like on the photo cause photo was a little too bright and I had to think how to show this Chris face XDDD hahahaha XD I know I know, I should just staph XD But You are perfectionist too - You understand what I feel. And when I finished I was like "close enough" hahaha this meme, You know XDDD So I am very happy with face I like the final effect I get here. It is like "ufffffff, done" XD LOL

Haha, yes, I know exactly what you mean! I can be completely finished with a portrait, & be like, "Ok, it's done & it's perfect......wait, there's a tiny spot that needs fixed." Lol You know you're a perfectionist when you want your drawing to look EXACTLY like the picture you're drawing from. I'm sure you love drawing Chris, & you should paint him as much as you like! I know when I go into digital painting, I'll probably be painting Loki lots! I also want to do portraits of characters from LOTR & the Hobbit.

Haha - You know what I mean ^^ Oh yes... Honestly - that's why I prefer drawing characters not people hahahaha XD cause when You draw/paint character You can say (I am that way with Bucky, cause there are not many reference photos and I painted some images from references PLUS imagination) "Ooookay... this is a character, right? he don't have to look like the actor, right?... it is MY Bucky, mine version" LOL. But while drawing this Thor I was like "Chris-Chris-Chris"... not Thor but... Chris... Chris... damn... But I saw some wonderful fanarts with THOR not Chris, only look like Chris but not exactly XD so... it's only me XDDD
I think Your works will be wonderful. If You love something - You are painting from the heart - it is always beautiful!!!! the best art ever!

Lol, that's funny. You normally paint with part imagination, but Chris has to look exactly like Chris. You know, that's kinda what I'm doing. I haven't drawn Loki yet, but I'm waiting because I want to get more experienced at it, so then when I do draw him, it'll look exactly like him. Haha The kind of art I'm into is realism. I get satisfaction from my drawings when they look exactly like the person I drew. I get blown away from paintings here on DA that look just like a photograph.
Here are some links I want you to look at, if you haven't seen them.

Those are the kind of paintings that I love! The ones where you can't tell a difference between those or a real photo. I look at those & I'm like, "I want to paint like that!" So yeah, realism is the style I'm really into!
That's funny what you said at the end of your reply. It wasn't too long ago, when I tried to start a portrait. Happened to be a bad day for me, & I really wasn't in the mood for drawing, but I forced myself to anyway, & it turned out like crap. A couple weeks later, I started over with the same picture, (I was feeling a lot better then haha) & it turned out MUCH better! So yes, you are very right! Put your passion into what you're doing, & it will turn out wonderful!

While drawing, painting from photo - sometimes You have to help that photo become reality again. Camera is making visible things flat, it eats informations.... Just like scaners eats shadows and colors in artworks. That's why even painting from photo You have to use imagination. But the best works in my opinion are from imagination, using only some ref photos... For example from my fanart gallery I love the most artworks like these:
They took me many hours to paint (they are not speed paintings but digital painting - more hours), and they have no one ref photo... they were born in my imagination, tell my own Bucky story. I just love paint this way... Have to do it again. I recently made many speed paintings but I start to miss making something more...
I like very much paintings You linked on Your comment very nice works
You have to know that - if You know how to use the tablet and You are good in drawing - it is not very hard to make such artworks
So I am sure that I will see such artworks made by You one day
I wish You paint such wonderful Loki
Haha - recently I saw the woman in shopping centre in big grey hoodie with the inscription "Bad outfit day" OMG I loved it. Yes, I agree with You sometimes it is just "bad artwork day" XD I know them too XD LOL
