Description
This is not an invitation for people to make fan characters. Just general rules for the viruses.Names of the viruses in the reference:
Trojan, Heart, Ethereal, Deadline and Bellum.
Rules for the designs:
Viruses can't have any black or gray in their design. (except for lineart and some small details)
The colors can't be too dark either.
Viruses CAN'T be named after real-life viruses. They can be inspired/based on them though.
Viruses DON'T have same names like Controls do (like Play, Pause, Stop...). So, avoid naming them the same as others. (Please don't name another one Heart for the 50th time.)
Viruses are usually named after objects and things and have to be something to do with either their appearance, personality or objective. They don't use "human" names.
The virus designs are less humanoid than Control's designs. This means they can have four legs, wings, worm-like bodies etc... But they have to have to be considered humanoid on some level. They can't be 100% animal-like.
Viruses are usually larger than Controls.
The same as with Controls, the eyes of the viruses can't be white.
All viruses must have a mouth. It doesn't necessarily need to be visible by default. But it needs to be somewhere so they can eat.
Info about Viruses in general:
Viruses travel through systems to take over them and make them their homes.
Viruses CAN respawn, however, they can't do this before they have taken over a system.
They can't respawn to a previous system that has run out of energy. Same as Controls, they can't respawn out systems.
There are basically two types of viruses. High rank and low rank.
High ranked has the power to respawn in systems they have taken over, while the low ranked need to prove their skills by killing Controls before they are able to respawn.
They prove their worth by showing the memories of the Controls they killed.
The more eyes a virus has, the higher rank are they seen as, because they have gotten the priority to respawn.
This means, viruses who have no eyes are low rank because they have not gotten the priority to respawn yet.
However, if a virus has the priority to respawn, but doesn't have eyes, they are seen even a higher rank than a virus who has eyes and the priority.
But it's harder to convince other viruses that they have the priority, since they don't have evidence for it. Killing them and see them respawn is the only way.
Sometimes viruses are bluffing saying they can respawn. This usually ends in a duel if the other virus doesn't believe them.
Controls die permanently in the hands of a virus if they are eaten.
Sometimes a virus can infect a Control, which can cause problems in respawning or in appearance.
Viruses are very competitive and jealous. They often challenge each other to death fights to get rid of the weaker and a possible rival.
This gives different viruses different motivations. Some kill for fun, some are just desperate to survive.
From corrupting a System, the viruses gain a new power source, it would give them extra power and more importantly, it would make them immortal because they would gain the respawning priority.
In my system, Power is their main priority to kill. He is the guard of the heart of the system. It's the place which gives the Controls the permission to respawn.
This is also the place which creates new Controls and Loadings, DATA as well.
Viruses can die from hunger, while controls could basically live forever in a corrupted system if there wasn't any danger.
This is why viruses move from System to System if they run out of Controls, Data, Loadings or Glitches, which they eat.
Viruses DON'T have a leader. There is no virus who is greater than everyone else. There is no higher-up who tells the viruses to do what they do.
Trojans
Trojans are pretty much the same as Loadings are for Controls. Trojan's are very common to see around corrupted systems and are not valuable in anything else than serving viruses.
Viruses can just pick any random Trojan and give them a purpose. Trojan's accept this because they get protection from the Virus and are more likely to survive this way.
Trojans sometimes have names given by their virus.
All Trojans are able to shapeshift. And their only purpose is to get in the System and get enough information about the place so they can let the Viruses in.
The more eyes a Trojan has, the longer are they able to stay shapeshifted.

You used black/dark grey with Deadline.

That's dark blue. And that's not "every single rule"...

Um. That's a shade of blue. Not black or gray

Wouldn't viruses ever run out of systems/food?
If they've overtaken all the systems they possibly could, perhaps not being able to corrupt a few remaining ones because they are simply too strong.
That'd mean they'd all starve.
Unless glitches still keep spawning once a system is corrupted, but if that's the case why would viruses keep corrupting new systems if they got an endless food supply of glitches.
And it's safer to stay in a corrupted system where you can respawn, then to conquer new systems. Only very weak viruses who can't respawn in a corrupted system would have any reason to seek out a new system to corrupt.
After all other viruses to them are just as dangerous as controls would be, seeing as how violent viruses apparently are.
Glitches are hunted by both controls and viruses. So in the strange scenario a control and a virus are somehow trapped in a glitch nest, they could technically work together to defend themselves against the glitches.
Unless the control temporarily teams up with the glitches to fight the virus, in any case that'd be a really interesting scenario.

Well yeah, unless new Systems weren't created like all the time. So they wouldn't die out that easily.
The thing is that Glitches can't live in a corrupted system or a system that has no energy left. Even glitches stop spawning at some point.
Haha, yeah, both would be possible scenarios. Interesting ones as well!

I see, I thought there would be a limited amount of systems.
But that'd still mean that systems would have to be created just as fast as they are corrupted.
And what happens with corrupted systems once nothing is even there for the viruses to eat anymore?
I presume the system disappears eventually. Unless systems are arranged in a certain manner where some systems can be "close" to one another.
Which would mean some systems could have a strategical advantage for moving around, so if you capture that system you could more easily get to other systems.
Now I can't help but be curious how such glitch, virus and control team ups would work out. Would the control later be reprimanded for teaming up with an enemy?
Do Glitches have some kind of organised society. And if they do, would they get slack for teaming up with the enemy? If they are intelligent beings, they'd benefit from working together with controls.
However clearly for some reason they are not, even though they need the controls to be in control of the system to exist, they can't live together in peace.
Because a system that was overtaken by glitches, wouldn't that end up being corrupted as well. Resulting in all the glitches dying?

Why not. Viruses just don't enjoy extra company than they need.

If a virus bites off a limb of a control. would it be gone forever or does it come back when then respawn?

Cool designs, they look nicely monstrous. So while Controls have vital functions to play, Viruses are only concerned with their own survival and power?

guessing that heart's mouth is the bottom of their abdomen, and their centurion-skirt-like thing are like tentacles on a jellyfish to help trap it into the the gastrovascular cavity, or in this case, their mouth. if i am correct, i loooove it.

Is there a virus that is considered the most "powerful" or does it vary for each?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
UnknownSpy In reply to Toon-Boss [2018-03-16 06:50:58 +0000 UTC]
It really depends. Some are powerful as in strong. And other are powerful by being smart and sneaky on how they get a System down. And some just think they are super poweful haha

every time she releases a species page with info on designs you're allowed to make one of your own. she doesn't enjoy it though just when people design characters of certain "species" without having/using a reference guide.
