Selksi are selkie-like beings that share traits with otters, whales, and other marine mammals. just like selkies, they can switch between humanoid and seal forms!

Anatomy

Selksi are otter-like in appearance, with large front paws, large hips, somewhat stocky legs, and small feet. They have a capsule on their chests that store a potion-like substance known as Aqualis. for some selksi, aqualis is transparent, showing their ribs through the glassy cover, but for others, the liquid is too thick to see through. A crystal floats in the liquid of their paws in the same shape as their capsule, which store additional magic.

They have clawed twin "tails" that attach to their legs. Despite their tail like appearance, they are actually legs that have evolved to work similarly to that of a mermaid's tail. Their "legs" are actually pseudo-legs that allow them to walk on land, though they have an awkward gait as they are much more suited to swimming. In humanoid form, their tails are no longer connected to their legs, revealing additional capsules on the back of their legs and underside of tails.

Bonded clothing

selksi in anthro form can take off their pelts to transform into their humanoid forms. each selksi has special tufts of fur that take the shape of an article of clothing, called their bonded clothing. Bonded clothing can be anything, as long as it's something that can reasonably be made out of fabric (ex. scarves are perfectly ok, but sunglasses aren't!)

when a selksi is in humanoid form, the bonded clothing turns into a normal article of clothing, and putting it on makes the clothing turn back into their pelts.

Selksi can wear the bonded clothing of another selksi, which changes their appearance! While in humanoid form, they keep the appearance of the last bonded clothing they wore, so the changes will apply to them to!

Selksi are a closed species, please don't make your own!
