Chapter 2: Through the Black Portal

     “Darkness.  That’s all I can see. I wonder where Emerald and Spike are.” Thought Trigger as he was falling in the black void. Wherever he looked all he could see is darkness, the ‘sky’, the ‘ground’, and even himself.  Trigger tried to not panic, but this is becoming an increasingly hard feat…until a voice pierced the silence.
     “Trigger, where are you?” A voice asked.
     Trigger tried to locate the voice but he was out of luck. Shortly after however, a light began to shine…and it grew. The light was coming from one direction, down the way he was falling. As he fell the light grew some more, and he began to feel drowsy until the light bright enough that he fell asleep. Awaking he saw two familiar faces, and one unfamiliar face.
     Emerald spoke, “Finally your awake, we thought you died.”
     “Ow. Major headache, what happened, Emerald?” Trigger said, puzzled.
     The unknown person stepped forward, and tripped over his long robe. After recovering he spoke. “You and your friends stepped through a temporal rift.”
     Trigger shaked his head in disbelief, “Right, and who are you suppose to be the keeper of time?”
     The person nodded, “Actually I am the keeper of time, Chronos.” He slowly walked up to Trigger. “You have any idea what task lies ahead of you, Trigger.”
     “No.”
     “You are the person who will save the very universe itself, and revive a long gone race of people.” Chronos said.
     “You think that I am the person who is going to do all that?!” Trigger said, after leaping out of the bed.
     “What about that dream you had…with the statues? Does that ring any bells?”
     Emerald stepped up, “Chronos, give the man a break. He just woke up. Let him soak everything up first. Ok?”
     Chronos turned around and headed to a different bench and sat. “I’m rushing things too quickly. I guess its because I have been here for way too long.”
     Trigger sat up and walked to Emerald. “Emerald, I know you are conserned for my mental stability, but don’t worry I’ll be fine.” He walked past Emerald and went to Chronos.
     Chronos looked up to Trigger, “I think you know what I have been talking about, no?”
     Trigger only nodded. He knew what he was destined to do.
     Chronos sat up, “Trigger I hope you are ready I have something for you.”
