Description
The year is 1996, ATSF and BN had just merged and with them came the retirement of many aging locomotives. The FP45s were one of those units withdrawn from service. The BE&C Railroad (one of my fictional railroads), looking for a locomotive to run a rail geometry train, bought ex ATSF 5996 and experimented with using it in this role, also considering OCS service. However they found it unfit and decided to scrap it. The town of Silverleaf, a small town along the BE&C's mainline heard the news and offered to buy the locomotive for use as a static display in town. The railroad agreed and the locomotive was transported via road to the town where it stands to this day, still wearing its patched ATSF Bluebonnet livery. The locomotive is somewhat of a town mascot and is often decorated for holidays.
