The horseshoe holds your luck. When it faces up, it is full. It will spill and fill up depending on what you do and where you are in the game. The more lucky you are, the less likely you are to get caught if you hide in a really obvious, if spacious, spot. However, you will always get caught if you chose an unsafe hiding spot.
