yup... that's what makes the final fantasy series great the intros.. just watching them make you wanna play... heeheehee.. but i can't say that for final fantasy 12... i don't like the intro too much.....

Sorry . i have to disagree with you there.
In my opinion, you cant even compare 12 to 10-2. In 12 they have changed a lot, it hasnt got the conventional "someone wnats to take over the world storyline" - i guess thats why you dont find it "fantasy"
i guess its just personal preferance, but i think the got 12 just right.
Btw im not flaming or anything. soz bout that. Just my opinion.

well we do have different opinions..
someone one to take over the world.. vayne.. i beat the game in 120+ game hours... 120 game hours for such a plain and simple story.. i mean c'mon! 120 game play.. we deserve a better ending at least!
GRAPHIC WISE... 10 is nothing compared to 12
but what good graphic with a plain story...
MUSIC was good but in some areas it was not very effective...
CHARACTER DESIGN.. well kudos to akihiko(?) yoshida but i think tetsuya nomura was a hell lot better when it comes to fantasy design ashe or penello especially fran is nothing compared to tifa,selfie,rinoa,lulu,rikku and the other previous FF babes.. but i do like balthier,fran and basch..
BATTLE SYSTEM.. it was ok.. i was fond of gambit like type of battle system like the TALES series and the etc... and after properly setting up mg gambit... all i needed was my left analog stick and my x and circle buttons....
but the summons are quite weak.. only summoned each once just to see how they look like.. except for belias who you need to summon to open a door..
STORY.. practically what made me dislike the 12 most.. its so predictable... so slow paced.. so plain... although it was very nice seeing gilgamesh again.. and the mandrakes.. onion queen, prince etc..
when it said it was not fantasy enough.. well if you noticed they wer trying to make it seem near realistic.. like their hair styles.. their costumes.. which certainly took out the fun in the fantasy games... but hey.. its alot easier to go on cosplays ad them now...... *sigh*
and i can't find a single scene memorable enough... and high resolution cut scenes are quite short.. vaan was practically useless throughout the game.. so as penello...
after beating the game... there's like nothing to talk about it... some of my friends didn't even bother beating the game...
im a big fan of the FF series... and i love Squaresoft... oh.. square-enix i mean..
i worship them... and find even the silliest game from them really fun and nice...
they did a good job yes!! and it totally deserved all the good credit it received..
but i hope they didn't change so much... i mean change is inevitable.. but do it one at a time... it was like playing a totally different game... it was very disappointing.... felt like the just game the name final fantasy so that people would buy it for the name... just like what they did to Saga.. changed the name to final fantasy chronicles was it? just so that people would buy it.... really sad...
that's practically my summary of the game...

looking on the bright side.. they said FF13 is more or less like FF12 so.. i guess players won't be as much as shocked when 13 comes out...

I think you make some fair points. I havent completed it yet btw, im nearly 60 hours through - leaving Archades. I think its enough to get the gist of the game though.
It's true that the story isn't as epic... You never seem to get as close to the lead characters and the villains like you did with sephiroth + kuja etc. Sometimes, well most of the time, i have no idea what the purpose of what i'm doing is in relation to the story, but i dont really care because i still have fun doing it.
I was fairly dissapointed with the music. It's good at creating an atmosphere, but it's not the kind of stuff that gets stuck in your head like in previous games. (at zanatkand, bombing mission etc.) They should improve on that.
Yeah, they completely ruined summons. It's never worth using them, but quickenings, whilsts hard to get used to at first, i found quite useful. I beat the mandrates in one hit, which i guess is a bit boring, but still...
What i did thik that they had really improved on was the battle system, it makes the game so much more seamless, and i remember the feeling of accidently going the wrong way in a previous FF, and having to go through dozens of tedious battle screens to get where you want.
I found in FFX that i never really felt i was in one world, but a series of different levels. (that you select on a list on the airship) and i really think that FFXII improved on that. I still dont think it has anything to tie it all together, like being able to run around in "the map screen" and fly an airship. I think that's what the latest games are missing.
Hopefully with a more engaging story, and some other improvements FFXIII will be awesome.
My verdict is that XII was took some great ideas but it was innevitably not perfect as it undertook some massive changes. FFXIII should learn from XII's mistakes.
That said FFXII is my favorite game. ever. ...so far.

(Oh and also, explaing what there is to like about X-2 I gave up after about 20 hours. haha)

anyway.. hahaha.... i guess it is really a matter of personal preference..
and oh.. i know what you mean about X-2.. the only thing actually that kept me going is my interest in how it's gonna end and its high res cut scenes... i didn't quite like dress sphere idea... lol... there was a point when i wanted to quit playing and wait for my pals to finish it.. and i'll just ask them how it ends... LOL...

haha cool. Yeah it felt like an action/RPG game rather than Final Fantasy.
One thing that i missedout about XII was the licence grid. I really liked that. Its nice to be able to customise each character to how you like. I have 3 mages + 3 Fighters (the girls & the guys respectively) I think if they kept that more "open" idea with 13 it will be awesome.
Im guna shut up about FF now.
I can never really find anyone to talk to about it though. Most of my friends only like VII...

yah.. the license grid is nice.. especially after maxing it all out!! alot better than FFX sphere grid... coz its a lot easier to obtain.. 
i like how i can turn everyone into a white mage, black mage.. etc etc...
and just look for a monster with infinite respawn minions...leave the game... and max out your license grid.... sweet...
i was even wonderin why some peeps says the game's hard... when you have the gambit to do all the work...
i just really hope they made the story more exciting... dang..
only like VII have they even played the other? although yes.. VII is wonderful... but what got me hooked up with the FF series is VII...
i'm gonna shut up now too...

I didn't see it....I usually just go and download the songs and decide by that if the intro'll be any good. I was a little let down on the 11 intro, though. The music is absolutley stunning, but in my opinion the video didn't really flow with the song. I guess I'll check out the FFXII intro since I like fantasy. ^^

well.. i think it really sucked...
i just beat the game... 120 hours of gameplay...
and THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO MEMORABLE SCENE IN THE GAME..
i mean final fantasy seven aerith and cloud scene was like wow... FF8 intro was like whoa plus the prom thingy.. truly fantasy like.. FF9 environment and music was awesome though chibi characters was a bit of let down but the story was great...FFX cable sliding scene... was AWESOME... and FFX-2 intro was just perfect....
FF12 was like... uughh.. 120 hours of gameplay... for nothing... i;m trying my best right now to remember a scene good enough for me to remember.. but no... i feel like my head's gonna burst.....
i dunno.. but i don't think im the only one who hated the game...... i have five personal friends.. who wer like final fantasy fans.. out of all of us.. i was the only one who finished the game.. my friends never bothers finishing the game....

Lol...the only FF game I've ever played was FFX and I still haven't finished it. I'm not one of the serious gamer types. I really like the game, though. Or rather, I like the storyline. It always makes me want to play further. I've also been considering getting FFVII since I heard it was good....and I've been aching to see FFVII: AC. I can't find the video on the internet anywhere, though.
