Mentally speaking:
Kurtis WAS a relatively normal guy. Who was really intelligent and caring (at the time anyway).
But things changed over time. Now, he's completely insane. He also lost alot of that intelligence as time went on. But a small part of his old self is still there, it rarely shines through though.

Backstory:
He grew up in a animal testing facility as a lab animal. He had to put up with being experimented on alot in his life by Dr. Nickolas.
The only person he was ever close to at that time was his own mother. She did everything she could to protect him, but her efforts were fruitless. Once he hit the age of 35 an experiment that would forever change his life would come into play. An experiment that would forever change his body as well. He was the first successful experiment for the immortal project. Having artificial organs, he didn't need to eat, sleep, or anything that a normal body would need. He didn't really age either, his body was forever stuck being like a 35 year old, no matter how old he got. But the issue with this experiment was that his body was extremely weak, and when hurt, his body couldn't heal on it's own.
A few years later a tragedy struck, a chemical spill happened that was fatal to everyone in the lab except Him (because he was immune to it) Everyone in the lab died (Nickolas also survived by escaping the lab just in time), including his own mother. Who he tried to save, but was unable too. So he had to sit there and watch her die a painful death. After the incident he completely lost his mind due to the trauma, and the social isolation on top of that made things even worse.
He ended using what was left over in the lab to build himself an android army, meant to fight off Dr. Nickolas. But he ended up growing a bond to them instead of using them for his plans. He treats them like they're his own children. He won't let them leave his side in fear that he'll lose them too.
Years and years have past: and a little someone makes his was into Kurtis's lab/house. He was sent there to retrieve something from the place. And Kurtis was the first to spot him climbing around on the ceiling. He screams as soon as he spots him, so the androids come in and capture the man from ceiling. Little did Kurtis know, that he just met the love of his life. And he would go on to forever get on that man's nerves.
