Description
This is my photo 1 final and I’m incredibly happy with how it turned out. I came up with this character (Perry Pandler) in high school but I wanted to revisit and reinvent him. I made him out of Sculpey and wire and painted him with acrylics, he’s about 7 inches tall. The bedroom was made out cardboard, bits of paper, broken paint brushes, and other random supplies. My goal was to try to convey a story through just a few images. I wanted to see if I could tell this story of a man with Alzheimer’s who finds comfort in a balloon and can’t figure why. The balloon was left there by his wife who visits him and gives him the balloon because it slightly triggers the memory of their proposal, in which Perry proposed in a hot air balloon. I tried to keep the photos of the balloon in every shot and at the end the balloon in his hand, to me, is representation of him holding his wife’s hand, feeling that comfort. There are a lot of small details I put in such as the letter on his desk which says “Dear Alice, I remember you today! For the first time in forever, I looked at the wedding photos and I remembered! I don’t know when I’ll forget again, but know that I love you. Remember that I’ll always lo~”

This project was pure joy for me and I loved every minute of it. I hope you enjoyed it as well
