I fucking lost it when the cop took him away for child abuse. But then I kinda/sorta felt bad.

The strip stopped being funny. Jim Davis stopped caring. Then again. He hasn't drawn a strip since the late eighties since he has someone else drawing the comic for him and he ends up not getting credited because Davis slaps his name on the strip.Β

Is that true? I didn't think he stopped drawing his own comic, but I will say that I don't care for his choice to hook Jon and Liz up. The last time I bought a comic was before that decision was made. I recon it was a response to the "live action" Garfield movie, which really wasn't an accurate adaption at all.

Actually it is true. There was an interview with Jim Davis(it was aired sometime before the live-action movie of Garfield was released and he was interviewed about Garfield). He stated that he stopped drawing garfield in the lateΒ 1980s. If you see a strip of Garfield that isn't from 1980 to the date where garfield started out, but see Davis's name on the strip. Then chances are you are looking a strip that was handled by someone else but Davis removed the credit of the original artist who did it and slapped his name on it. Making people think he still does the comic. This was one of Bill Watterson's reasons for his disliking to Garfield.Β

What a waste. What's the point of having your own comic.

Tell me about it. Its an obvious 'i'm in it for the money' stunt. Since he hires someone else to draw the comic, removes the artists name on it to replace his, and be a complete obvious filler to newspaper comics when we all know that garfield's nine lives should have kicked up on him by now.Β

It's strange, but interesting that Jim was honest enough to admit to this. If he admits it, then I guess the person drawing his comics is acknowledged.

Wow. In the regular Garfield comic, he was awesome. But in your version, he was an @$$hole. ^^U

You know, they did an episode like this in the cartoon Garfield and Friends, but it took place in a dream where Garfield and Jon dreamed they were each other.

I remember they switched heads or something. A missed opportunity from Jim Davis to steal my idea beforehand.
