Do you mean tracing? don't get used to tracing if it's not neccesary...
Keep painting by looking at a reference on another file or print out and you are already in the right path... ^^

Whoa... very realistic-looking. It at the same time looks both like a picture of a real unicorn (if they existed, but who says they don't?) and a hand-painted picture, simaltaneously! It's awesome!
