Well I have read the manga. I read it because the anime leaves you asking so many questions. The manga just left me with even more questions, it was still good mind you.

What was in his basement?

Questions get raised and then never answered and eventually are more or less forgotten by both the characters and the audience. Some things eventually do come to light, but until very recently the manga brought more questions than answers.

Why did the colossal titan and armored titan break the walls?
What are titans? Where do they (originally) come from? Why do titans exclusively target humans? How many kinds of titan are there? Why are there different kinds?
Why is Mikasa superhuman?
Are there any other human settlements in the world?

The mystery of all these things kind of add to the depth of the setting, but if they never get addressed at all then they are just bad cases of "Chekov's Gun."

Well they have made a second series but you cant read it online you have to buy it. On top of that why am I still talking to you ive been sleeping for a month and a half this is how I start waking up and coming on this website to her some person bad mouth something I like over a comment I made long ago. I'm sorry if you thought I was bad mouthing it. I still like the series an awful lot. It just takes a long time, 14 volumes, before things become even a little clearer.

I thought the comparison seemed apt since in Bomango, next to nothing gets explained. However, whether or not you know about the setting and characters doesn't stop it from being enjoyable in and of itself.
