Adam Basker for an idea that's been swimming in my head for a while.

He's a single father of his son Noah Basker who was kidnapped when he was a child. His captors bargained with Adam for a ransom, however, Adam couldn't afford it. Noah was then taken in as a servant to a minor noble family.

Years later, Adam hears news about a traveling magician who harbors the power of fire performing in town. He goes to checks it out, and realizes that it's his son. He attempts to talk to his son, however, Noah angrily dismisses him and travels away, stating how his father left him for dead.

Basically, the story revolves around Adam trying to find his son, and on the way, realizes that he also possesses control of an element.
