Following the Battle of Elysium Imperial High Command sought to upgrade their already extensive arsenal of weaponry starting from their blades and up to Orbital Defense Cannons under Project Ananeoo. A decision widely accepted by the Imperial Senate due to the Seven Year War with neighboring Clans.

To this end the Vigilance Particle Revolver was given an upgrade in the form of the M5 Gladius. A superior weapon enhanced with a new power cell, stronger barrel, and reinforced frame the new M5 boasts greater stopping power and penetration while also boasting a higher shot charge and increased accuracy.

Equipped with an underbarrel launcher for added firepower, custom porting to decrease recoil, and better ergonomic controls the M5 has quickly replaced the old M11 and M18 as the preferred sidearm of the Imperial Military. A decision widely feared by Clan Solton after Royal Guards armed with the new M5 halted their attempted assassination of Empress Arianne and her family in a rather bloody fashion.

Needless to say the wide assortment of ammunition and fire modes found on the M5 has made the Empire's enemies sweat.
