Let me take a stab at this; Sombra is long dead, but like Solaris, he left parts of himself behind. In this scenario the alicorn amulate is Iblis (Being Sombra's raw power), well whatever Paper found is Mephiles (Being the conscience, mind and will of Sombra). However, he was unable to fully consume her mind, leading to a 3rd mind set, fueled fully by vague memories and instincts.

I REALLY love this series and it is sad to hear that you get frustrated with this to some extend (or at least that's what I interpreted from your statement) It would be sad if you put this series on hiatus again, but I would understand it considering the amount of time and work put into this comic.
