The Apple of Eden is the apple that Adam and Eve bit into from the Garden of Eden in the religions that believe in God. Interestingly enough a golden apple plays into multiple religions. The Apple of Eris also known as the Apple of Chaos is a mythic artifact that brings destruction and chaos. Supposedly Eris would drop the apple into mankind's lap from time to time and watch the chaos that followed. In short, while the Apple of Eden is an item in AC, it is, like much of AC, a reference to something from our history, so this could be a reference to AC, or any of the above.
