When a pony dies, their spirit is united with nature. They are different from the elves, who's spirits travel to Valinor, or the humans, who's spirits no one knows about. In their spiritual form, they have no perception of time, and a thousand years is just a snap of the fingers they don't have. The immortal Arandorians know rituals to guid the spirit back, but this rarely works, and requires a strong bond to Arda
