5 minutes since the incident happened and 3 minutes since the first arriving SRG Personnel entered Amity Station to search for the perpetrator yielding knife to the morning commuters, a large explosion occured producing fireball that can be seen exiting the facade of Amity Station followed by billowing thick black smoke. 15 SRG Personnel and around 50-60 Civilians are still left inside when the explosion occured.NPD immediately requested the assistance of NFD, fortunately Engine 78, Engine 788, and Tower Ladder 167 were returning from call a block away from the subway station when they heared the large explosion and quickly saw the billowing tower of smoke, they immediately called back NFD Dispatch Center to report what they saw and requested additional units to respond and calling in a 10-60 code, signalling a major incident. Upon arriving, Engine 78 Captain instructed the Chauffer and Lieutenant aboard Engine 788 to hook up to the nearest hydrant and immediately feed E-78 with water. Tower Ladder 167 assisted multiple down civilians and police officers outside Amity Station and quickly set-up perimeters around the area. Engine 788 Crew along with Engine 78 entered the structure to search for trapped people while Tower Ladder 167 assisted injured civilians and police officers out the street and called in for EMS Plan 4, the highest alarm EMS Division can get. within minutes multiple special and frontline units showed up. Battalion Chief 23 assumed the command of the incident and positioned their Incident Command Post just besides the subway station. Division 5 arrived and took over the command and requested Newport City OES to shutdown Emperor Street and 14th Avenue, Emperor Street will serve as the Mass Casualty Area while 14th Avenue will be the staging area of arriving companies. 23 Minutes since the initial explosion only 4 SRG Personnel were located and along with 6 civilians.
The whole incident is now under the command and jursidiction of NFD.
