Today, August 10, marks the 51st birthday of Derrick J. Wyatt, the man that changed the way how enjoy animation. After his work with Teen Titans and League of Superheroes, he landed a job as main character designer and animation director for the next animation project, involving Cartoon Network and Hasbro. It was TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED, which will become a phenomenon and the best representation of the Transformers franchise. Even after continuing his job in other animated series, like Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated and his return as animation director in Ben 10 Omniverse, Derrick always kept the Transformers Animated alive and well, through his involvement with the Transformers Collectors Club's two projects: The Return Of Blurr and The Stunticon Job, with Naoto Tsushima and Marcelo Matere doing the artwork.

Along with Josh Perez ( ) Derrick was working to bring the Shattered Glass world of the Transformers to his vision, as well the G2 in the form of repainted versions of the Transformers Animated; they were considering opening a Patreon page, where Derrick would make special commissions, as well planning to bring a Wyattverse, his multiverse featuring Ben 10 Omniverse; Transformers Animated; G.I.Joe; Scooby Doo; and many other series, specially from Hasbro. Alas, that never happened; on December 16, 2022, Derrick succumbed to cardiac arrest, and the news of his dead will be known on December 26, in a Twitter message by his sister and passed on Josh Perez. Derrick was 49 years old at the time of his passing.

To honor his memory, I posted this drawing of the Saris Sumdacs, both designed by Derrick during his work with the Transformers Animated series. Both are sad, especially the SG version of Sari, which she felt the most, as she considered him, and not the evil Professor Sumdac, as his dad. Despite this, those who knew him and loved his designs, continue to move on and keep his legacy alive, as long as our hearts beat, the memory of Derrick James Wyatt, will live on.... 'Till All Are One.
