The pressure of his vines emerging beneath the arm and leg locks/shackles is literally forcing them apart and causing them to short out. Not only that but he is also straining the steel chains which are welded to the girders lining the ceiling.

The raised veins streaking over his body are the roots of the plants. This always happens when he summons his abilities to this extent aka whenever he exerts himself beyond that of mortal capabilities.

I love how the sheer force he's exerting to free himself makes his biceps bulge. mmm mutant testosterone.

Drakken gets captured by a nasty rival of his when he attempts to rescue Freakazoid and several other friends.

Unbeknownst to his captor, Dr. D possesses a unique mutant ability to produce and control plant life in an extreme way. Also, Drakken is about to discover that he has yet to tap into his full potential (he assumed he had already achieved that). It seems that as the years passed, his powers continued to mature, blessing him with a source of phenomenal strength that had up until this point, belonged only to that of his vines. In order to accomplish this seemingly impossible feat, all he needed was a little push and the rush of adrenalin, endorphins, and unbreakable will to persevere did the rest for him.

(this takes place after his healing factor had kicked in ages ago hence the absence of the scar and the fact that he doesn't look a day over 30).
