Ryan requested I try to draw some chibi characters, as I think that is where he would like to go with the web comic.I was a little put off, because I've never really drawn chibis before, except for that 1 time in 2005 when I drew the Link picture for my youngest son.
I wasn't sure if I'd get it right. I still don't feel like I've gotten it right just yet, but I think I'm off to a good start. Anyway, these are some of the characters I doodled after checking a quick tutorial.
So I'm learning, and you all know so much more about the 'laws' of Manga than I do. Any tips would be helpful. Hope u guys like!

i had a feeling the web comic would have a lot of chibis in it (most web comics do) because they can be drawn a little faster but some characters are hard to convert to a chibi style. If this is your first or second attepmt at it then you did very well. You already have it down.
The most important rules for turning a regular sized character into a chibi are these:
-They should be 3 heads tall (regular are 7 1/2 heads tall)
-The eyes are the most important feature and can take up almost half the face. The nose is the least important and usually not needed.
-The details of the clothes and body should be simplified as much as possible without changing the appearance of the character.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I read in a couple of Chibi tutorials a good rule of thumb is to make the body the same size as the head, which is what i did with these. That seems to be a pretty consistent Chibi theme in a lot of tutorials. But I've also noticed there are variations, like what you suggested. Thx for the advice!!!

Same! When I saw that it made my day xD I rarely give up on drawing its just I've been drowning in homework :/ I wish I had more watchers though but I guess I'm new so it takes a while to gather more watchers.

Yea, it just makes me go crazy when I don't get to draw! Especially since my dad got me a drawing tablet for Christmas that I haven't had much time to use

well some of the chibis seem to look "Older" I guess and if I remember correctly morst of the characters are younge so chibis should look even younger and I think I should repharse you are useing the lines in the wrong places.

Haha, I love the Poma! His chibi version looks like a cat fresh out of the bath and fluffed up by a bath towel drying. The Fury also gave me a giggle, his helmet is so perfectly large for his body.

That is one of the beauties of Chibi. Chibis are really simple. I think you hit it on the spot if not the damn near it lol. I like Elle's. So cute

I say for a first timer u did really well and the only thing I can see is that the expression on the faces are to simple usually the express of chibi is over the top. Other that great job

These Chibi's are quite good! Though you have revealed some names not yet revealed in videos XD Not sure if that's a bad thing. I certainly don't mind.

I think you did well! If I were to give any tips, they'd just be stylistic preferences, I don't think there's really a "correct" way to draw chibis. Myself, I usually make them more bubbly in shape, and I usually draw stubby limbs instead of actual scaled-down feet/arms. But like I said, stylistic preferences, take it with a grain of salt.
