A quick character sheet for a side project I'm working on with my sister. It's fun to do other projects cos while I love Hanna there's so much going on in my head. It's also nice to draw something else every once in a while.

If you're going to ask about Under Lock & Key, which some of you might, it's not dead forever. It's just on hiatus. The goal is to get my sister and myself full time independant comic artists (I'm there) but she's not, and when she is she's going to be pretty much handling most of it. That's the idea! So, patience will provide fruitful! This is both of our side projects but at the same time, equally important and loved by both of us.

It's called Instead of Going Up, though previously named DuringREM. The story changed enough (a lot) that the previous title no longer really remained truly relevant. This is also not every character that's going to appear obviously as I am notorious for having rather large casts, haha!

I have a hard time trying to explain this stuff without it sounding stupid (I describe Hanna with the same amount of eloquence), but here goes.

Essentially Macsen Lander is high academia, created an awesome elixir that everybody was like HEY that's awesome. You're awesome. We're going to use it ALL the time even though that seems like a pretty bad idea, and then sometimes overdose on it.

Then they sort of find out that after persistent use, it breaks you down on a molecular level and you die. Whoops.

Mack becomes guilted and pinned responsible for the few elixir related deaths, and the council/military of the colony decides that they need a scapegoat. But before they can even BEGIN thinking about breakfast (or justice), they find their scapegoat has broken out of jail (much to his own dismay) and swept away to live the life of a fugitive.

Turns out there are a couple of other factions that are interested in someone with Lander's talents, and even the elixir itself. It's so much easier to wring it out of a scholar than it is to infiltrate a government and steal the recipe.

Also there are spaceships that are shaped like fish, stuffy professors (okay just one), lasers and as usual with anything I'm involved in - guys with sideburns.
