Wake up babes, new beast just dropped!

This is vermis sine filum (which basically translates as Stringless worm UwU)

These things look non-threatening as hell at first glance, but unlike both of my previous beasts, this one actually *does* have your worst interests at heart. Completely blind and subterranean, they lurk under loose sand, sticking close to the surface where their ultra sensitive hairs can pick up the vibrations of passing creatures' footsteps.
Once a suitable creature is detected they stalk 'em from below ground until their target stops moving, and only when there's been no sign of movement for a considerable while do they emerge. Waiting until their prey is asleep makes their job a LOT easier after all!

That's when they put that sharp pointy proboscis to use and start sipping blood with all the enthusiasm of a dehydrated uni student draining a Capri sun. But at least they're kind enough to inject a super fast acting numbing agent so their sleeping victim (ideally) won't feel much.

Like their real world blood sucking equivalents they don't kill their prey, save for the small and the dangerously anemic. However they do have a nasty habit of spreading diseases around...

Since the average living thing only has so much blood to go around Stringless worms prefer to hunt solo. They're highly territorial and will viciously defend their patch from any intruders.

Needless to say none of this makes them very popular with the people of Solare. But hey at least the local anaesthetic in their saliva has some very useful medical applications!
