Description
According to The Lesser Key of Solomon, Paimon is the ninth King of Hell, depicted as a man with an effeminate face, wearing a precious crown, and riding a dromedary. He has a great voice and roars as soon as he comes, speaking in this manner for a while, until the conjurer compels him and then he answers clearly the questions he is asked. When the conjurer invokes this demon he must look towards the north-west, for there is where he has his house, and when Paimon appears he must be allowed to ask what he wishes and be answered, in order to obtain the same from him.Paimon teaches all arts, philosophy and sciences, and secret things; he can reveal all mysteries of the Earth, wind and water, what the mind is, and everything the conjurer wants to know, gives good familiars, dignities and confirms them, binds men to the conjurer's will.

Wonderful use of a limited palette and lighting, as well as the intricacy of the saddle and crown. And amazing use of contrast to draw a focus on the eyes! The only minor complaint I can manage is that the crown angle makes me feel his face should be just the smallest turn to the right (his left). Still, that rather insignificant issue aside, this is a delightfully masterful piece.

with such a warm colored piece the slight blue of the eyes its all it needs to break up to color into distinguishable parts as well as direct the eye to the main focus. it is a clever trick, ominous and i feel into that trap . the only thing that distracts me is the difference between his hands. a normal human hand and a strange 4 fingered demonic hand. i understand it works for the concept, however i feel , and probably only me, that he needs at least 5 fingers. OR that i just feel something is slightly off with the left arm.. oh well i can put up with it because of the direct visual impact the piece conveys from the start.
