Description
As he stepped out into the cool, crisp night air, Saw suddenly became aware of how much Onderon had changed in the past few weeks. His sister, Steela, was dead. The Seperatists had been defeated. The rightful king had been restored to power. Saw himself had been made captain of the police force. Yet, he felt slightly uneasy, as if a deep evil was still buried underneath Onderon's newfound peace.
As these thoughts entered his mind, Saw became suddenly aware that he was being followed. He turned around to find a shadowy figure darting into an alley. Saw drew his blaster & chased after it, and yelled, "Hey, you! Stop!" The figure threw trash cans & people in Saw's path, but he dodged the obstacles with ease & kept hot on its heels.
As the figure entered a building, Saw pulled out his grapple gun & fired. The dart connected, hitting the edge of the roof & pulling the cord taut. Saw let the grapple gun pull him up the side of the building and climbed over the edge onto the roof. As the figure burst through a door onto the roof, Saw raised his blaster & said, "This merry little chase is ending here." From the darkness, a pair of eyes & a crazed smile gleamed, & the figure said, "Yes...For you, that is."
Saw noticed the barrel of a blaster pistol sticking out of the darkness. The muzzle flashed red & Saw dropped his gun & cried out in pain as a shooting pain tore through his arm. Two more shots through his knees took him to the ground. "I don't believe you'll be going anywhere soon." the figure said. Through gritted teeth, Saw said, "If you planned to kill me, why didn't you do it when you had the chance outside the diner?" "The answer is quite simple, really", the figure said, "So that no one would know I was the one who did it." "Who...Who are you?" Saw gasped. The figure stepped into the moonlight & Saw exclaimed, "You?!" The last thing he ever saw was the smiling face of the killer, illuminated by the moonlight, before the fatal shot turned Saw's world to black.
Ahsoka gasped & jolted upright, finding herself in the familiar settings of her room on the Resolute. Oh, Ahsoka thought, It was just a bad dream.For weeks, Ahsoka had been plagued by haunting nightmares. It was one of the rebels they had helped on Onderon, Saw. Every time, he was in the dream. Every time, he chased a shadowy figure through Onderon's capital city of Iziz. Every time, he ended up dead on a rooftop, body riddled with scorch marks from blaster bolts.
As Ahsoka changed out of her nightwear & into her robes, she thought, It's ok. They're just dreams. Nothing more. Just bad dreams. She walked down the hall & entered Rex's room. Rex looked up from his holobook & said, "Morning, sleepyhead." Ahsoka smiled & said, "Come on. Master Skywalker's about to start the briefing." Rex crossed the room & gave Ahsoka a quick kiss on the cheek. "Let's go." he said. She blushed & walked out the door, Rex at her side. As she walked into the bridge, she located her master, Anakin Skywalker, communicating with a hologram of Obi-Wan Kenobi. As he saw her approaching, Anakin ended the communication & began the briefing as his padawan took a place at his side.
"I'm afraid I haven't got good news", Anakin said, "We received a request from the king of Onderon for some Republic assistance in the investigation of the murder of the new police captain, Saw." At the mention of the former freedom-fighter's name, Ahsoka paled. Looks like her dreams really weren't just dreams after all.
