Ahsoka stood in a corner, watching somberly as Anakin, Obi-Wan, Rex, & Cody sat reviewing the evidence. She looked to the door, were 2 police officers & former freedom-fighters, Donald & Hutch. Lux stood on the other side of the room, looking just as worried as she. These 8 people were the 8 who had been present at the interrogation of Cad Bane. And one of them...was a murderer. She shook her head sadly & wondered who the killer was. It couldn't be Anakin, or Obi-Wan, Cody, or Rex. All of them had been on their respective ships. So it was one of the two officers...or Lux.
"I still think our best lead is this Bizul character", Anakin said, "That's the name Cad Bane gave us...if only he were still alive, he could give us more info..." "But we already checked census records", Obi-Wan argued, "And there's no sign of any Bizul anywhere." "Excuse me, General", Rex interrupted, "But maybe this isn't one name. Maybe it's two names, a name & an initial." "Good thinking, Captain." Anakin said. Ahsoka's mental gears whirled as she thought of possible name combinations. Suddenly, it struck her. "It's in reverse!"Ahsoka cried, startling everyone. "What are you talking about, Snips?" Anakin asked. "I mean the name... Bizul will give us a first name & a last name initial if we flip it around!" "Ahsoka, that's brilliant!" Anakin said. "So then B. Xul flipped around...", Cody realized, "Would be Lux B. Lux Bonteri!"
Ahsoka & Lux paled at the exact same time. She realized she had just doomed Lux. The king walked into the room & said, "Guards! Arrest Bonteri!" Donald & Hutch rushed forward, but Lux sent them both flying with a roundhouse kick. "Lux!", Ahsoka shouted, "Don't do this!" "No!", Lux shouted, "I'm not going to prison for crimes I didn't commit!" Hutch picked himself up off the ground & swung his stun stick, connecting with Lux's chest. Lux jolted & twitched as 500 volts of electricity coursed through him, then collapsed & fell.
"Bonteri! You've got a visitor!" Ahsoka walked down the long row of cells with the two officers behind her until she reached Lux's. She felt positively horrible. As she sat down, Lux turned, a look in his eyes that mixed anger, fear, frustration, & pleading. "Lux, I'm so sorry", Ahsoka said, "I didn't mean to get you arrested-I really thought I was onto something." "It's ok, Ahsoka", Lux said, "I don't blame you. You were just following a lead, like all good detectives would." Ahsoka did feel a little better. It always seemed like Lux knew just what to say. "I gotta say, it's scary in here...", Lux said, "Now I imagine how Bane must've felt when the killer shot him last night." Ahsoka said, "I'm sorry, what? The police haven't even finished the autopsy yet. How would you know Bane was shot last..." Ahsoka cut her sentence short as the realization dawned on her. A look of pure darkness entered Lux's eyes as he sat back & smiled evilly.
"You are...", Ahsoka said, "You are the killer. You shot Saw & Bane." "Very clever, Ahsoka." Lux said coolly. "However", he boasted, "It is unfortunate indeed that you weren't clever enough to see this event coming." "What are you..." Ahsoka's sentence was cut short by a gunshot behind her. Donald lay dead on the ground, & Hutch pointed his blaster at her with one hand, taking her lightsabers with the other. Lux stood up, a crazed smile on his face. Hutch slapped a pair of handcuffs on Ahsoka's wrists & blasted the panel next to Lux's cell. As the force field deactivated, Lux stepped out & delicately touched Ahsoka's face with one hand. "Not to worry, my dear. I'm not going to kill you. No, no. You are simply the bait to draw out that lover boy clone of yours." "Rex!" Ahsoka realized, & a gun butt came down on her head, turning the world black.
Anakin Skywalker was deep in meditation when Obi-Wan & a police officer rushed in. "Anakin! There has been some terrible news..." Obi-Wan said. "There was a jailbreak at the prison", the officer explained, "Only one prisoner escaped-Lux Bonteri. We believe one of our own, Hutch, helped him escape." "Hutch...he was one of those 2 police officers present at Bane's interrogation!" Anakin realized. "Anakin...that's not all", Obi-Wan said somberly, "Ahsoka was visiting Lux to apologize for getting him arrested." "You mean..." Anakin started. "Yes, I'm afraid so...They took her, Anakin. They took Ahsoka."
