There was a small click as the door swung gently shut behind the uniformed officer.
"Hello, Olivia."
The young girl seated at the polished steel table was silent, deathly still. Slightly unnerved, the man took a seat on the opposite side and placed a thin file on the tabletop.
"My name is James. I'm a policeman. We met once before, remember?"
Olivia delicately opened the folder and removed several grisly photos, absently examining them.
"Olivia, do you want to talk about your friend?"
"...No."
The child's voice was cold, like ice, and despite its soft volume it had a resonating tone that seemed to come from everywhere at once.
"Why not?"
"Because he'll hear me."
"This room is completely safe, Olivia. No one can get in or out unless we say so."
Olivia lifted her head to meet the officer's gaze, and in his stomach fear churned like roiling waves. Her eyes were little more than hollow marbles reflecting the cool fluorescent lights.
"It's not enough. He'll still come for me...He'll still find me."

The girl's head began to sink back down, and the officer decided to try another line of questioning so as to keep her attention.
"Do you know your friend's name, Olivia?"
"No."
"Have you ever met before?"
The answer was the same.
"So how do you know he'll come for you?"
Deceiving her might get her talking, he silently decided, and slyly cocked an eyebrow.
"Kinda sounds like a lousy friend...You know next to nothing about him."
Olivia pondered her response for a moment before speaking again.
"I know he'll come for me because I've seen this all before."

The statement caught him off guard, leaving him surprised and more than a little frightened.
"What do you mean?"
The girl brushed her bangs out of her face and continued.
"It was a dream, a few nights ago. I dreamed that people who were looking for my friend took me from my house."
Her revelation was quite disturbing to the officer, but the possibility for details was too great to stop the interview when he thought about it.
"What happened after that?"
"I was in a scary room, and a man was asking me questions...My friend told me he was a bad man. 'Bad things happen to bad men,' he said..."
Olivia allowed the next words to die into her throat, gazing at the shadow of the officer that seemed to almost lean against the wall...She quickly bit her lip to contain her joy. He was here, just like he'd promised he would be.

"Olivia!"
The outburst startled the girl, and with more than a touch of contempt shifted her gaze upwards to meet that of the officer.
"Am I boring you?"
"No."
"Then would you care to inform me what's so interesting about the plain grey wall behind me?"
A sinister smile spread across Olivia's face as a pair of beady red eyes opened and narrowed to slits in the inky blackness of the man's shadow, the beast returning the dark grin with brilliant, jagged teeth.
"You're about to get what bad men have coming to them."
"What are you...Hrrk!!"

Depending on who you ask, there are two possibly very different accounts of the interrogator's fate. When questioned, the officers observing the session on the other side of the two-way mirror reported that Officer James Merton retrieved a pocket knife from his belt and proceeded to slit his own throat in front of Olivia Wilson. Forcing open the door, the rescuers found the former DOA in a lake of his own blood and the latter missing, having somehow vanished from the interrogation room. To this day, Olivia Wilson has not been located and has been presumed dead, but if she were around to tell how she saw things go down in the interrogation room, her tale would probably go something like this...

The panic and fear in the officer's eyes were immeasurably exhilirating to both Olivia and her friend as the latter wrapped long, wispy fingers around the policeman's face and lifted him off the ground with surprising ease. Grinning brightly with childish joy, Olivia jumped up from her seat and wrapped her arms around the creature's midsection.
"You came for me...I knew you would! The mean man kept saying you were bad, but I knew you'd come!"
The policeman pulled feebly against the monster's tight grip, his struggles growing more frantic as the fingers on its other hand sharpened into jagged, menacing claws.
"Hkk...No, p-please..."
There was a weak, wet gurgling as the creature buried its talons deep in the soft flesh of the man's neck, ripping them out and to the side with great force and spraying hot arterial blood all over the room.
"Of course I did, Olivia." it said in a voice barely greater in volume than a whisper. "I promised, didn't I?"

The lifeless body crumpled to the floor, and Olivia took her friend's hand in her own, walking towards the wall and, surprisingly, finding herself able to walk through it.
