Description
My hero is a girl quite younger than me.
Her heart was kind and her spirit free.
even though I didn't know her personally,
her story still touched me quite deeply.

She was diagnosed with a disease quite terrible
that so few had survived, it didn't look hopeful,
but she kept her spirit up & looked to the sky,
living with joy & no fear though she knew she might die.

And when the dreaded disease did take her away,
it caused much sorrow, grief, and dismay.
Natalie Cross, hero, mentor to us all,
we will never forget you, the bravest of us all.
