"Before we even knew what it was, the sickness had spread to the mainland. It hopped from town to town, carried along in the sweat and fear of those who sought to escape its advance. At some point, maybe two weeks after the first outbreak, there were reports of cases across the bay. I don't know if the birds brought it over of if some poor bastard stowed away on a fishing vessel, but once it hit the shore there was no stopping it. The army can't do anything now - it's spread too far. Our only chance is to figure out how to treat it medically. That's why I'm going out there - to the island. Supposedly they have a girl locked up. She was the first case, Patient Zero. I just hope we can learn something from her."
