Description
As a long timer reader of Gunnerkrigg Court comic, I wanted to present a fanart piece that the author, Tom Siddell, can personally enjoy and to demonstrate how inspiring and, ya know, unique story he shared with millions. I ain't counting and I don't think they are either.
From me to you guys, and also with all your advice from the rough draft, it wouldn't be so complete!--Yay on the DD!Β

I don't remember Tom ever commenting on any piece of fan artwork, however he did add yours to his favourites here on deviantart ( ~tea-san ).

After I stopped being blown away by the sheer magnitude of the beauty and detail, the first thing I noticed was Ysengrin's face, specifically his eyes, both in shape and the surrounding tissue. The way they appear to "mesh" with the rest of his face makes him look almost . . . human, like an old, tired man. It seems to hint at the possibility that humanity is essential to his existence and to show just how weathered he is, but with an underlying strength.
Is this what you were going for? Am I totally off?
In any case, this is beautiful and awe-inspiring.

exactly spot on. I've grown up around dogs, so I know their eyes get kinda gross looking (like a basset hound's) and I wasn't sure I wanted that appearance for Ysengrin, so I switched to looking for old man eyes, and they seemed far more fitting. Afterall he's suppose to be old and tired and grumpy and theres a reason why folks would shy away from him. (course its not cause he's a giant walking wolf in a tree)
This made me squeal a little while reading.Β
