I've been playing FF14 lately, I got through to Shadowbringers 5.3 and MY GOD THe amount of times i've cried over characters in this damn game...Anyways, here's my current main.
Her name is/was originally Ashton Theron and was another AU Self of my beloved Ashton Kennedy, but the more i've sunk into the lore and the story, the more she's definitely diverged into her own being. She is still going to have the backstory of 'was yanked through space and time from her own world to Eorzea because she has been Chosen', but she is going to choose to change her name to reflect that this is her new life, and she chooses to settle into it.

She's choosing the name R'zaiel due to her having a fascination with modern-day Angels and angel mythology, Raziel being the Angel of Mysteries and Keeper of Secrets. This will, unsurprisingly to him, coincide with Emet-Selch's feelings over her and their past life...lives they've spent together. It was only after she took the name that her past lives' memories came back in shards, and though R'zaiel is loathe to accept their bond, Emet-Selch is utterly amused by the irony.
