Well, I have been following endling's Endzone with great interest and bated breath, and eagerly anticipate the conclusion which is approaching rapidly! Here is my contribution to the existing spectator entries, a breakdown of the tournament!All of the avatars are copyright of their respective owners, and Endzone belongs solely to endling.
In the interest of space (and my sanity) I refrained from including names, but those numbers refer to the round matches (see endling's journals about the matchups) which will provide you with the names of both contestants.
Can you tell that I am utterly addicted to this tournament? I'm both excited and very saddened by the prospect of its rapidly approaching end .:sigh:. ah well, hope other fans of the tournament like this ^_^ Yaay endling and Endzone and all the fantastic contestants! Go Climber and Dood because I have absolutely no hope of picking one of you to root for!

.:laughs:. it's what happens when I start at the most recent round and work backwards. I should really scan all the handwritten pages of notes I have on this tournament! Would be a fun (and creepy) thing to do. On the off-chance that people are interested in seeing just how insane I am and how much I avoid studying/going outside ^_^

Looking at this chart, I'm suddenly at a loss of breath over how MASSIVE this tournament... really is!!! Wow, man. I can't believe all the research, time, and dedication you spent on compiling this!

.:grins:. It's ma'am, well, it would be ma'am if I answered to such formal things ^_^ Easiest to just call me enve, neh? .:giggles:. and mostly the work for this lay in getting photoshop to cooperate and draw some frickin straight lines ^_^
In any case, I had all the information lying around, as I am OCD and (since I stumbled across it in round two or three) wanted to see all the round ones, then thought, as long as I'm finding them all, why not download them so that I don't have to do this all again later if I want to reread them? Then I got bored and OCD again (I think I had midterms and was procrastinating mightily or something) and decided to ORGANIZE.. which took a realllly long time.. and went through and wrote down all the numbered rounds endling had posted and went through and catalogued all the entries I had with a complex numbering system! Ahaha ^_^ I am a crazy person, it is true.
Anyway, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Hope to see you at the next tournament!

yanno... looking at this huge thing really sends shivers down my spine XD. Of course I know I'm one out of two remaining fighters from among 64 skilled combatants selected from a pile of more than 600 entries... but only after seeing this do I really understand how utterly small my chances were and how unbelievable it is that I got to the finals XD;
Thanks for the dedicated work! I'm working hard so my entry lives up your expectations!

.:laughs and applauds:. An endeavor in which I heartily approve! Although I'm not a contestant (hopefully one next time though!), reading through the first round entries is the crazy one.. when 32 other talented people were eliminated right off the bat. I would hate to have to judge the first two rounds. From there on, I could predict the outcome pretty often, as people's styles began to emerge and there was a better idea of opponent's fighting styles for accurate depictions... but anyway, I digress.
It's not THAT unbelievable, lan-kun. As an avid follower of the tournament, I gotta tell you that you've got a LOT of talent in writing and art and that you have been getting better every round (although unknown has too) Yes, getting into the finals is super impressive, especially considering the awesomeness you have been surrounded by, but I gotta say that you have absolutely earned your place!
Good luck in the final round, I look forward to your entry! I do agree with your siggy though, and I aspire to become more like you by the time the next endzone rolls around ^_^

.:laaaughs:. Yeah.. I stumbled upon it just after round 5 and, being an OCD freak, went back and found every last one of the previous entries and painstakingly catalogued them in notebooks and on graph paper and stuff.. This was just the next logical step! Ideally it would have text (but would have been HUGE) and would link to the appropriate entries (no idea how to do that within a deviation though..) and be color-coded by the winning and losing (but it seemed mean) so instead I just stuck with labeling with the round numbers for easy reference!
Interesting side-note: so far, the total sum of tournament entries, including auditions and character references and related spectator entries (generally unknown-person's) makes for a folder that is just over 500 mb of intricately catalogued data! isn't that great?

also, would you like a copy? I'm trying to figure out some way to transfer it over the intarnets... but my cs friends tell me that over 500 mbs is a heinous amount to send. Any chance you're near san diego or la (if you would like a copy that is)

It seems like there should be some file-hosting service whereon you could upload the file for others to download. A quick google search took me to [link] . It looks like you just choose the file to upload (under 100mb, though, so you'd need to split it

Oooh! thanks very much! I will let you know when it is uploaded. Don't expect it much before next week though, I have finals all week and, though I have been procrastinating an awful lot (see the freakin chart that I made not too long ago when I should have been studying?) I really do need to get down to business, and uploading a lot of material and linking to it and stuff seems like the kinda thing that would eat into my time a great deal ^_^ But yes, I will take care of it ASAP and thanks very much for doing research!

.:laaaughs:. had one today, have one tomorrow, thursday, and saturday... soooo, it may get uploaded thursday or friday, depending on how determined I am to NOT study for cell bio -_- If I'm good about studying and not going on the computer (and just SEE how well I'm doing for that today..) it shouldn't go up until saturday night or sunday at the earliest. Soo... sorta up in the air.
Dang.. I wish that endling would post my tournament chart in his journal... T^T I like praise for how crazy and obsessive I am ^_^

Go as a competitor? I would LOVE to. But, there's a little problem. Namely, I can't draw. I'm a writer and a poet and a visual art appreciator, this is how I justify my DA account's existence. But what could I do for my own entry? A short story? An epic ballad? Stick figures? A short epic ballad about stick figures?
As much as I like to believe I'm not a bad writer, I humbly acknowledge that my medium does not create the same excitement or visual satisfaction.

I'm already brainstorming ^_^ I'm not the best artist in the world, not even that great of an artist, but I can't conceive NOT trying, ya know? I figure.. if I spend my free time practicing and things, I can improve enough to actually achieve something. Current favorite idea is a version of me, sooo, a microbiology undergrad, but one who's really good with hitting targets and who has access to lab space and all the bacteria I'm currently studying. So basically, she'll be throwing various pointy objects loaded/coated with bacteria or just their products, which will create effects from paralysis to vomiting to falling asleep ^_^ with helpful little 'microbiology facts' thrown in because I find it funny ^_^

Ooh, I can see it now. Petri dish shurikens of DOOM (and paramecia)!!! Nothing better than causing great biological maladies AND educating/confusing them on the proper terminology.
You brought up the amusing thought of if I were to do the same thing - an engineering undergrad. "Did you know that... THAT BRIDGE YOU'RE STANDING ON IS STRUCTURALLY UNSTABLE? BWAHAHA!!" *collapses* Another character I wish I could do is a martial arts master - a plain human black belt of jujutsu or something who thinks he's going to a normal tournament. And is very surprised when confronted with art summoners, half gods, and cyborg bounty hunters. Could be interesting.

.:laaughs:. something like that, although currently I'm leaning more toward darts and things loaded with bacterial byproducts and toxins ^_^ petri dishes are all well and good, but, from a biological standpoint, they really wouldn't store anything that would be quick-acting enough to be effective in battle.. unless it was one of the ones that creates sulfur gas or something.. hmm .:scribbles down some notes:.
Actually the microbio undergrad is a spinoff from my sister's original idea (after she told me that my ORIGINAL original idea was not funny and should be scrapped for something funny) which was a parody of our dad (a structural engineer) as a paunchy, middle-aged engineer armed with duct tape, WD-40, a t-square, mcgyver like abilities, and a propensity for lecturing on subjects completely beyond the ken of any non-structural-engineers (think grampy vs. kayla .:laughs:.). But then I thought about how I'd want to show my family what I'd been doing, and dad's reaction to a parody of him... also, I have no faith in my ability to draw a paunch middle-aged man, and a microbiologist chick could become a useful avatar for me so... I'll probably put up some of my concept sketches for the both of them, maybe have some sparring or something to practice my battle-drawing skillz ^_^ of which there are none as of yet..

I'd be interested to see that. Also it would amuse me, because at the university I'm going to, the Faculty of Engineering's colour is red, and Science's colour is blue. You'd be drawing red vs. blue, which are also (anecdotally, at least) the colours of communism and capitalism.
Not to mention a neat scientific fact. And maybe petri dishes would operate better as traps, then...

Well, she'll definitely have several-many for the purposes of storing her samples so she can restock on weapons after every round. Mostly the weapon design is waiting on me to do more research and develop a substantial list of potentially weaponizable microbes. Might even branch out to multicellular organisms too.. like porcupines or sea urchins or nettles or something.
That's extra fun that the subjects have colors.. I wish our subjects had associated colors .:envies you:. Ah well.
Petri dish functions will definitely require more thought. For now though, must needs cram some japanese! Microbiologist away!

When you reach the point of macroscopic species, you're more acting as a biologist than a microbiologist. The use of porcupines as anything varying from projectiles to caltrops is highly amusing, but it seems like more of an anime technique than a scientifically feasible practice.

I'm not talking about carrying around porcupines, I'm talking about isolating the toxins in their quills, or possibly the quills themselves.. hmm. Anyway, I think she's gonna be a microbiologist working in a lab that is creating biological non-lethal weapons ^_^ Which would explain how she could have a bunch of weapons and a large variety of microbes and tools and stuff! ^_^

I gotta wait until saturday T_T and like.. my hardest and least favorite final is that day TT^TT (wow those smileys get creepy) anyway, I should get back to studying. I'm being very bad about not using my computer this week, as evidenced by the chart I made and my near-immediate responses to comics and stuff. le sigh.
hehe. I figure sunday, I'll stay up late, then sleep in as MUCH as I want. Something I'm afraid to do this week, as I have two 8am finals and am TERRIFIED that I will sleep through one of them
