This is by far the biggest work I've done yet, and it represents something very important to me, but I also like to say that I want this to be a sort of a tribute to all artists out there, who like me, are looking for something. It might be anything from better skills, a job, or a cute little pug... how I want one...
Anyway, I really hope that you'll find what you are looking for!
I've found something while painting this. I now know how badly I need to better my anatomy, and perspective, and also how much I love painting steampunkish outfits and cogs.

Amazing! I love the message behind it, and how the look on her face really pushes that "desire" to search for treasure
I like how her lamp (to my interpretation) looks like it was handcrafted by the character herself, and she had to use what she made (perhaps a manifestation of her efforts?) to get to where she is now
Also I find your take on steampunk very refreshing; most of the time I come across steampunk-themed pieces colored with warm color schemes (gold, yellow, orange), so I must say I find the aqua blue background to be very unique take on it

Although I don't know why the crystals and gears are in the same place. The gears don't provide a reason why they are there but I may be overthinking things.
She will start a cataclysm there by releasing a super-uber-powerful boss.

Ah they are more symbolic, representing the "treasure" or thing you might find while exploring. In my case it was better skills

Oh that really depends. This piece took me more than a month, and another piece can take no more than five hours.
