hot fractals. how'd you manage the raytraced reflections and whatnot

The reflections are a feature of the software, you just set power and depth and it calculates them, after the main rendering is completed

The colors mostly come from the light-map applied. Here I used a mix of 3 fireworks images I took on New Year's Eve 2 years ago; when very enlarged it gives the effect of additional lights. Other hues, like the one on the ceiling, are given by colored lights in the fractal software.
