Description

So here's my space. It's a bit cramped right now because I'm reorganizing the rest of the room and had to stash some stuff in my work alcove until I have another place for it.

There's the open dust curtain on the right. It's not anchored on either side, so I can also scooch it to the left if I want to. The big red thing is the air compressor. I keep my extra cans of canned air on top of it. (I'll get into what those are for in another entry.) Down on the floor is where I keep my air compressor. I use a drafting chair to sit in because of the height of the blasting cabinet itself. A regular office chair is too low, and I etch for a couple of hours at a time, so standing at an awkward angle is right out. I got both the air compressor and the blasting cabinet at Harbor Freight Tool, and I ordered the drafting chair from Amazon.

Finally, to the left is the dust bag (it's just a drawstring garbage bag) to collect all the blown out abrasive from the exhaust fan. Said fan is actually a USB computer fan that I attached to the cabinet and plugged into a USB power converter so it gets power from the wall. Normally you'd use a shop vac for venting a blasting cabinet, but they're loud and I didn't want to add to the noise of the air compressor. Plus the abrasive I use is so fine that I don't need any more power than a computer fan.
