For the non-Discworld fans** out there, the little girl is Susan Sto-Helit, and Death is her (adopted) grandfather. When she was little, he tried to build her a swing. This is how it turned out.

You can't see it very well here, but the paper Death is holding is a set of swing-set building instructions. He's holding them upside-down.

*Yes, I know the tree, the sky, and, well, nearly everything should be black, but that'd make for a very dull painting, and my art teacher wouldn't allow it.
