The yellowing sky sets the mood, even before you get to the rocky spires, which may also be dinosaur bones. The foregrounded trees and mud flats, plus the middle distance figure show that not all life is forbidden; but definitely still foreboding. This feel post-apocalyptic, equally fantasy, science-fiction, and science-fantasy post-apocalyptic so as to be relevant to a number of genres. I also appreciate there's a portrait orientation "zoom" in the middle, in the midst of a landscape orientation piece of artwork.
Could prettily easily see this as Middle-Earth artwork or a Rush album cover (such that those are distinct things).
