This is my first entry for Lopoddity 's " Pandoraverse month of Love" contest.It instantly gave me an idea of a post they did on tumblr a while back that I just loved. Lop's tumblr: lopoddityart.tumblr.com/
"Well, I had a what-if idea that on one particular Hearts and Hooves day, when everypony was obnoxiously making goo goo eyes at each other or sucking face, Midnight decided to cave and give dating a shot, just to see if she was missing out on something. She marched up to the very first pony she saw and informed them the two of them would be going on a date that evening. This pony happened to be PB Sandwich, who was very confused about being “asked out” by a bold, frowny-faced little mare holding a jar of fresh newt eyes.
Still, Peebs supposed he was flattered(?), and agreed. He showed up on Midnight’s doorstep in his best bowtie, with a nice flower bouquet and a bright, doofy grin, and that’s when Midnight figured she’d made a huge mistake. PB was so….chipper. And sweet. All the time. The entire date. Smiling. Joking. Laughing. He made puns. He called her “Nighty”. Oh god. She’d made a terrible mistake.
While the date wasn’t a….completely terrible thing for Midnight, at the end she decided to thank him for his time and efforts, but not pursue any further wretched romance. PB was kind and respectful about her decision, and they parted as sort-of-kind-of friends. Midnight, deciding their last interaction had been too chummy and sweet, quickly made a voodoo plushie of PB, but curiously, his is the only one to remain with no pins in it.

I really wanted to illustrate it for this contest and decided to go for a mini comic instead of a single pic with a lot of text/dialouge (i'm not completely comfortable with writing dialouge for other peoples characters, it just feels like I would get them all wrong so I opted for this instead)
I think with the little scenario description the pictures kind of talks for themselves. But in case it's hard to see what is going on here is a summary:
1: Midnight opens her door and is greeted by PB with a bouqet
2: Midnight realises her huge mistake
3: Dinner at a resturant. PB tries to be funny and makes jokes one of which the punchline somehow had to do with a spoon stuck to his muzzle.
4: Gone dancing. PB asks Midnight to dance. Midnight doesn't think so...
5: At a carnival. PB really wanted to win that huge stuffed bunny, but couldn't seem to do it. Midnight won it for him and told him not to think into it.
6: Midnight thanks PB for his time and tells him it was a one time thing. They part ways at her door.
7: Things got way too mushy. Midnight made a voodoo doll to even it out.
8: Apparently couldn't bring herself to stick a pin in it. What could it mean?
Just to be clear, I don't ship these two. Not romantically anyway. I think it's a nice thought that they share a strange little "kind of friends... maybe..." type deal. It was just to cute of an idea for me not to draw.
I also tried a new thing with the coloring (or lack there of). I think it looks kinda nice to only have some parts colored so to put more emphasis on them.

I don't ship them romantically either. I like the idea of an aro/ace Midnight, so I don't see her entering a relationship. However, I can see Midnight looking at that voodoo doll with no pins in it one day after a long somewhat friendship and going oh shit, he's tolerable. So she decided he's going to be her platonic life partner/ best living friend in the sense that he will be the only living friend she will ever have. So she becomes this possessive, overly protective bestest creepy friend and sort of just hangs around him. She joins Cupcake, Panny, and Jam in the Peebs Defence squad and threatens silently from afar with a bottle of poison and a blank expression. PB is just happy to have a new friend.
PB dating people would be okay with Midnight because he's not aro/ace and enjoys those kinds of things. She may not understand it, but it makes him happy so it's acceptable.
