It had been so long, so very, very long. But he strode back up the steps with all the confidence of an Earl, into the mansion he had been away from for so long.

To the person he had been away from for so long.

Ciel pushed open the large doors, not even minding that no one came to open them for him. It was rather late, even the most dedicated of servants needed to sleep. He marched up the stairs, thoughts of you, your cute sleeping face and that little look of shock he was sure you would have. Oh, how he missed you.

His walk grew faster and faster until it was an all-out sprint down the silent corridor. His smile grew into a grin and then...he was there. He was standing just outside your door and even from where he was he could hear your deep breaths. He chuckled. Even after all this time, you would sleep with your mouth open. How unsightly.

He never wanted you to change.

Ciel quietly opened the door to your room and saw you, tucked into your bed with your blanket nearly up to your nose. His eyes twinkled. The door closed just as silently as it had opened, leaving him to walk up to your bedside undisturbed. He was slow, each step was almost reverent as he grew closer.

And then he was at your side. Right where he belonged. He let out a shaky breath and extended his hand out to brush back your disheveled hair. He missed you so much, and here you were. Back within reach.

Something his dear little brother could never appreciate.

His grin grew just a little bit tighter, his temper seeping in at the seems. But it didn't matter anymore. That other "Ciel" would never put his hands on your again, his twin had no place in your future. You were his future.
