The GL-08 is a standalone grenade launcher based on the 35mm M704 grenade launcher.
The weapon is favored for its lightweight and compact size, able to fit into an appropriately sized holster on the hip for a deadly backup.
While rendered somewhat moot by the integrated GL in the M8A4, it is still handy for users without an M8A4 or lightweight spec-ops looking for a deadly but compact weapon.
The folding tube stock is spring-loaded, fitting into place with a press of a button. The barrel consists of two segments that are locked in place. One fits over the other for a reduced length when in the stow configuration.
The time to go from stowage to ready-to-fire condition is just 3.2 seconds.
