Shiya
Greying blue clouds hung overhead as they barely hid the shining sun and the evening sky. A promise of a upcoming storm perhaps. From what she understood was soon coming amongst the equines here, it seemed appropriate.
And also for her troubled mind.
Tearing her eyes from what was above, Shiya scanned the area around her, watching as many familiar and unfamiliar faces paired off to do as the Olde King said; no ordered was better word to describe it. Proving things were very different between the leadership of both herds.
Her thoughts instantly drawn to the Exiles who left, more specifically Kanu. The dirt covered mare’s ears drooped with worry as nerves slowly ate at her.
For almost a year with the Exiles, she hadn’t been very far or completely separated from the Exile Captain. Before the herd sought out the Olde, she had told him she would go with him to the Bachelors and yet here she was with the Olde Herd. All for the chance that she may learn of her Mama’s whereabouts. A golden mare she had not seen in a very long time, just as with her Father.
First she had to come out of this ‘war’ unharmed, starting with this ‘sparring’.
Stiffly meandering along the outskirts of the spars, Shiya skimmed her twilight eyes over the dwindling crowds of bystanders.//
Ziara
The rain clouds that threatened to spill only added to the mage's unsettling feelings towards this whole situation as strangers and friends passed her by, shifting to avoid standing in their way. Ever since she had become a Mage she hadn't done much combat fighting but rather was told to focus on her magic making her change in rank more awkward now than it had ever been. In her heart she was a fighter, not a Mage who waved lights about in the sky. What use was it anyway?
Just then a young, scraggy looking mare caught her eye who was seemingly looking for a partner just as she was. She did not recognize the little frame so she figured she must have been of the Exiles who had joined forces with Olde. "Hello" she walked over with a kind smile on her face, taking in the other mare as she walked towards her. "Ziara, Olde herd defender Mage. You must be from the Southern Island?" She bowed her head in greeting, doing her best to give a good impression of the members of her herd. Happily she chimed, trying to hide her insecurity "Are you looking for a partner?"//
Shiya
Beginning to believe no one would even consider sparring with a former feral, Shiya unexpectedly made eye contact with an unfamiliar face, a stranger. Not Exile…
Fighting the old urge to run or scare her off, the scruffy mare inhaled the cool air deeply only to exhale slowly as she strolled her way to the approaching golden mare. Golden like Mama. But no, this barely smaller mare carried a tail and part of her mane of ginger brown, along with unusual markings.
“Hello….” the quiet mare softly greeted, her tail twitching nervously as it had done all day. “I am Shiya and yes…. I am from there.” From the Southern Island, yes; she had lived there for most of her life. Though Shiya believed this mare, this Ziara ,was referring to the Exiles mostly.
Awkwardly and almost clumsily returning the bow, she carefully watched Ziara with a spark of curiosity.
“Yes...I am. But..” Glancing to the horses that have already begun their sparrings, she watched on unsure. She knew how to fight and kill to survive, but to fight to simply win….she hadn’t done so since she lost her parents.“It has been a...very long time. I’m not sure even sure I know how…” How to stop herself from going too far...//
Ziara
Somehow the young, mud covered mare opposite her seemed even more nervous than some of the rooks Ziara had seen today. "It's alright" she reassured the stranger with a small nod. "It's been quite long since I've sparred myself" Ziara admitted as she thought back to the last time she had participated in fighting that wasn't against an enemy. It was a few years back that she had trained with the other Knights so she had to be quite rusty in holding back herself.
"Just fight until one of us forfeits. We're on the same side after all so this is just a judgement of who goes to the front lines.. We can start easy, you ready?" The red dun mare smiled a little and got into starting position a few meters away from the exile, there would be time to talk and make aquaintence after but her prime goal now was to follow her king's orders.//
Shiya
Snapping her attention once more onto the mare, she could feel her ears flicking back and forth almost constantly. Yes, she knew she was uneasy, after all she was once more surrounded by strangers. But this time she didn’t have Kanu to run to, nor could she just flee all together. No Shiya had to adapt if she was to make it into the Olde Herd to survive and, more importantly, to find her Mama.
She just had to come out this unharmed…..the survivor in her knew that was going to be impossible, but the child in her was hopeful.
Deeply breathing in, she gave Ziara a small nod before she followed the mare’s lead and took position. Immediately she felt her body responding, prompt by the noises around. Her muscles coiling up, readying herself to leap into action. Ever so slowly she sidestepped around the mare, waiting.//
Ziara
As soon as the other mare took position Ziara began pivoting in her place waiting for the scruffy mare to make a move. This was usually the way Ziara went about all her fights, assess the opponent first before starting any offense. Quickly she darted to one side of Shiya, pretending to attack and watching her defenses closely. The other mare was obviously on edge but she had a feeling this wouldn't last long as the sparring commenced and that it would dissipate into concentration.

That is such a ridiculously nice sky. And the two mares look so pretty! (Even with Shiya's filthy hide, haha.) You have such a nice style. Good luck with making the next round!

This has such a cool fight scene feel to it! With how Shiya and Ziara are places, somewhat out of the frame themselves and on either side facing each other, it reminds me of the old arcade fighting games.
And the color of that sky is beautifullll.
