Description Rapture is a story that depicts the Earth in the far future, 8000 years from now.

Over the centuries, humanity grew both in power and in ambition. It conquered every corner of the Solar System. In their conquest of the void, they happened upon an object that was unaffected by the laws and limitations of the universe. They learned how to harness its power for their own ends. It was used to terraform entire planets in a matter of years; it could transmute mere rocks into the rarest of substances; it created stable wormholes, making long interplanetary voyages a thing of the past. It propelled the human race to unimaginable heights.

But it wasn't enough. Some sought to use its power for their own ends. To use it as means of apotheosis. In their prosperity, humanity forgot of the gods of old. Instead, they sought to become gods themselves, to shape the universe in their image.

As with any meddling with forces beyond one's comprehension, things were bound to go wrong. A period of pure chaos ensued. The mysterious object stopped defying the laws of reality, but instead broke them completely.

Time became meaningless. The lands and the oceans danced and moved like they were alive. The planets danced around the Solar System, their orbits becoming fluid and erratic. It was a state of pure change.

Through circumstances unknown, reality stabilized. However, the Solar System was never the same.

All life, including the ambitious humans, was mutated to a state of unrecognizability. The Earth became an alien planet, with the old ruins of the once prosperous humanity being the only standing reminder of its old state.

There still existed artifacts and anomalies left behind after the end of the period of change, which was known as the great warp. These artifacts held powers to the ones of the object, which was known as the Ladder of Apotheosis. The properties of these artifacts had entire civilizations built around them.

Many civilizations arose from the ashes of humanity. Most were built by the descendants of humanity, which looked completely different compared to their ancestors. Some civilizations were built by the sentient descendants of some animals as well.

However, the old humanity was not completely wiped out. There existed human minds, which were digitally contained within mighty space stations. They had come to retake what was once theirs.

There also existed rumors of a single biological old human walking the new Earth after being revived from a frozen body, but the credibility of those rumors was questionable, for the time being...
