Description This is a "Thank you" gift (a sort of trade, I suppose) for my friend , who drew me a lovely picture last year and wouldn't let me pay for it.

I have been trying to get the pieces together for this for ages, and suddenly inspiration struck me last night. It's amazing what avoiding housework can do in terms of art!

Dia has been having some worries recently, so this is all about the power of the Unicorn's horn to heal, and faces in the clouds are her beloved Jack as a puppy and as the glorious adult he will be one day. I hope you like it!

The Unicorn was played by a horse called Jack who lives in the field in front of my house. I made the horn myself. Puppy Jack is portrayed by Maigan at 12 weeks, and Adult Jack by a timberwolf I had a photo of. The background is from a collection of Corel Stock Photos. The manipulation was done with Microsoft Photodraw 'cos I'm still scared of Photoshop!

I should add that the value of "Unicorns I Have Known" has grown drastically - I just checked it on Amazon and nearly choked on my cup of tea! I really didn't get THAT much pocket money!!

If you would like to see the book, perhaps a library would be your best bet, and I really MUST put my copy away from the dogs......

Thanks to everyone who faved this - it was hard work, and I feel I need to learn a lot more about photomanipulation, but it's good to know that people enjoyed it.

For anyone who loves unicorns, check out a book called "Unicorns I Have Known" by Robert Vavra. I bought this book with pocket money as a child and I've treasured it ever since. It was written (and photographed) before digital photography, and although I know that those Unicorns can't really have been posing for those photos, it just sends shivers down the spine because there is no way you can see how else it could have been done.

For anyone who wants to buy me a present, one of his other books - "Horses of the Sun" is something I've always wanted, but never managed to find a copy of!!

If I was never told that Santa and Unicorns weren't real I'd think you shot the real thing

*waves hands in front of face trying not to cry* Catherine,my dear, its beautiful and so heartfelt. You went to all this trouble to lift up my spirits -it sends such a feeling a worth through my veins. Simply saying thank-you is not enough, but its always good to see it for the record. I cannot begin to say to you how much the support and knowledge you have blessed me with has made me a better person and dare a say a better artist in many points. Your stories about your life light up my eyes and your precious huskies remind me that we all have someone out there to whom we can relate. You take me for who am I.

May God bless your life even more to repay what kindness you have shown me.

*continues to awe at all the detail*
