Description
This photo was taken on February 13th, 2007.Have you ever been this close to a live bat? I've seen dead ones up close but this is a first. I received a call from my brother.. telling me while he was moving things around the century old house that he just acquired, he found this little guy hibernating in a vase. After rushing over and taking several shots of it slowly drinking water, we were told by Animal Control to gently wrap it up in cloth till it could be picked up. Thinking it was still too out of it, we left it on the floor for a moment while we briefly went to look over the house. When we came back, this little guy had crawled out. This is a shot of it while we did our best to get it back on the cloth without making it too angry. It did not like us. The truly cool thing about it is it's call. It's what they use to locate flying insects. It's so high pitched, you feel your ears tingling. We got it wrapped back up and into my brother's cooler attic where it will go back into hibernation.

He's so cute! Smile for the camera! Poor little thing must have really been scared. I'm glad you brought him to a safe place to continue his nap, and that you didn't get bitten!

Yeah.. my brother and I are animal lovers.. so, we wanted to make sure it wasn't disturbed, too much. It's high pitched call is amazing, and I wish others could experience it.. without getting bit.

Oh no no no, not me, I would have taken it right outside....with extreme prejudice. I like these as much as I like spiders....nope, they may live as long as it's not in my home.....although the wolfbats are rather cute.....

lol. I've always had a liking for things that scare and terrify. Mostly because they're fascinated. Both are responsible for the regulation of the insect poulation. Unfortunately they have to have such a bad rep.
